When is V1.3 coming out?

GODUS is a-changin' - for example we're changing how and when you can sprog Followers from their Abodes and there's also changes to how Belief is generated, there's a major change in the landscape and also in resources and how you get them. God Powers are being changed, Collectible Cards are changing and oh yes, Treasure Chests and 'clicking' is also changing. All of these changes mean that we have to rebalance the entire game and this takes time. We could release what we have now but the issue we're having with save games would mean that it's a step backwards rather than forwards, so we believe it's wiser to spend the next 48 hours playing through the game (again) and making sure it's completely right and as delightful as it possible can be, before we update the version up on Steam. We have stopped adding new features and now we just have to finish's only going to take a little while longer but it'll be worth the wait.

As part of all these upcoming changes you will also notice that your Homeworld looks somewhat different now. You'll be able to see the changes before you are prompted with two options. You will be given the option to re-start your Homeworld after this 'changing event' which admittedly is a frequently requested option by our players.

We love all of your feedback and take all of it extremely serious, since without it, we wouldn't be doing anyone any justice. We believe that we can only make GODUS the best it can be by listening to your feedback and suggestions. We've read every forum post, every email, every tweet, every comment, we have watched every Lets Play video and read all the comments on those too. That's a lot of reading by the way. And it's your feedback that has determined what's made it into the first content update V1.3, so…thank you.

Below you will find a list of some of the new and improved features, as well as bug fixes to be expected for V1.3. Please keep in mind these are tentative until we release the updated version.

GODUS V1.3 some of the new and improved features (tentatively):

Thanks for this information, we really appreciate your efforts and that you keep us informed, that keeps us from not going crazy :) I would love to play it but i fully understand your point of view and i fully agree.

Best of luck with fixing remaining issues, keep up the gorgeous work you're doing guys, big thumbs up for the entire 22Cans team. Also, please keep us informed, i know it can be a bit time consuming, but it will help us as well :)

Huzzaaahh! Thanks 22 Cans. I love the explanation of some of the changes but i'm going to reserve comments for after i've actually played it. Also if this patch changes so much i guess i'll be restarting again (so very happy to hear about the reduced clicking).

Ok this is a good explanation why the update will come later. So to Friday.

Please tell if you mean that the update will come after the 48 hours of testing new playthroughs, and by that, new playthroughs in 1.2.1 to see the changes to savefiles from the patch or just 1.3?

Also, I wish to know if my world with 11k followers will be able to progress as far as the people starting from the beginning? I have made ALL the land flat and occupied it with farmhouses and I wanna know if it will affect my ability to progress given the landscape changes that you said will be taking place in 1.3.

Will the landscape be different for new worlds only, or will you add the changes to the landscape just outside the influence area already taken by the player? I can start from the beginning, not much of an inconvenience but it would be god-like if i wouldn't have to.

Here's some feedback too: Make it so that the floating-in-the-wind-cards effect given by a buried chest appears above an abode if said abode is right on top of the chest. I accidentally found chests under mine after a mass population eradication, reason being upgrading their abodes to the latest.

Same as GoldenKrow... wish i could delete/edit my own comments so that I wouldn't have to spam messages in threads. There's some feedback for ya :P.

I wanted to ask if picking the option "start a new world" would mean that I can't keep all the belief and gems I have gathered previously... I just want the gems really :V

Lordy: I cannot even begin to express how glad I am that I contributed to the Kickstarter project to do my tiny little part in making sure this happened, but also to participate in the evolution of the game.
Even with the initial release, I have had a *ton* of fun with it, logging an embarrassing amount of time into playing with it, experimenting and just having fun.

I fully realize things are going to change from here on in and I am OK with that - That, after all, is part of playing a game in beta, rather than post-release.

I just wanted to add my voice of appreciation and thanks to Mr Molyneux and 22Cans for bringing back Populous-On-Steroids :)

I also look at the lanscape and worry some.. How much are you guys changing exactly? I loved the old style you guys gave the game. It made it unique

Many thanks for the update, may I ask what percentage of the game v 1.3 will represent?

A step to the right direction. All the tedious clicking was boring and tiring, without it the game has to be better.

I suggest that the game orients more on multiplayer competition. Homeworld is a great idea and will be fun but in the end for the long run PvP is the most important aspect.

When I play a game vs Friends I want to beat them and they want to beat me. If they beat me I'll play 100 games to improve and beat him, then he will play 100 games and so on...

If they take away the ability to sculpt the world and all I will be incredible depressed, thankfully I havent bought the game yet(since I keep waiting for this patch) so if they are removing stuff with that, I at least saved money. But it would be very sad to see since I want to finally get a game where I can CREATE something, instead of yet again another game of destruction. I hope what these pictures are showing are not what I think it is, and the game gives less costumization, and takes away the unique look of the game with it's layers

"in the end for the long run PvP is the most important aspect." - Not for everyone - not by far. I love games like this for the single player aspect: Creating an entire world and managing/influencing the population: I have literally *zero* interest in PVP in Godus :)

Yeah you can get PVP in so many games these days, god forbid(pun not intended) we get a SP game focused more on creation :P

Wow, lots of very cool changes coming! I've got mixed feelings about 'starting over' but I'm definitely willing to give it a shot in order to try out the new content. Keep up the good work 22cans!

Thank you for the update. Would love to see posts like this more often on whats being worked on etc so we dont have to guess to much about whats coming in the future. Also cant wait to test it out, i dont even mind the postphoned release date, its done when its done and for now i dont have to choose between godus 1.3 and terraria 1.2 :)

"Dynamic weather system where lightning storms will bombard your Homeworld, damaging Abodes not in a settlement" ????

Really? Since when does the weather, especially lightning storms, care where a home is placed? Being inside a settlement radius should not influence the weathers behavior. I would expect, also, that lightning strikes on lesser homes (ie: felt tents and wooden cottages) could possibly spark fires and potentially destroy those homes, which would pave the way for upgraded housing in older, less advanced, regions of the world.

Either way, awesome news to hear of the planned updated features. I cant wait to get my hands on the Bronze Age. :D

WOO cant wait for the updateee,

they didnt directly announce a new date. its rdy when its rdy.

i think its ok this way. giving us another date would only put pressure on them and they will screw up again and the community will whine like 12years again. better dont tell fixed dates again peter, keep it at announcing the ... month. (no troll im  serious)

looks great, cannot wait to put my hands on 1.3 :)

I actually like the fact that we are actually in the middle of a development-phase where 22cans have the time to test stuff out, get feedback from a much larger player-base than normal and turn it for the good.

I am very glad I will be able to reset my world. I have reached point in the game where there were no more chests and I could not access multiplier. Thus I was stuck and unable to advance because I could not get resources. I would suggest having a way that your people could make resources. It could be a really slow way, but I think having some way would be good.

Given that this is still in development, I look forward to seeing the changes.

After all 22cans are listening,

A rare thing

All looks good, a step on the right direction and it is pretty evident 22cans are looking at and heeding feedback. The only thing I don't like is the addition of more chests, this doesn't fix the problem with chest and the sterility of the environment they promote. If chest are a place holder during development then that's fine, if they still exist when the game is finished that'll be poor. Resources should be "farmed" from the environment from mobs or node, chest are just bad.

Gripe over, well done 22, 8/10

I don't mind the chests, although I think there should be farming for resources.  What I don't like about the chests are sometimes having to dig a hole through 20 layers to get there.  Or sometimes not being able to tell the difference between the animations around beautified land vs a chest.  Or discovering a chest only after I've completely destroyed all the rock and forest around an area.

Hoping for some randomness to land generation in a game, as well.  And being able to create new land, rather than having to drag it out from somewhere where it exists already.  IE, piling sand up in a specific location.  We can destroy land, but we can't create it out of nowhere.  If you were to go and make the entire surface completely flat, you'd never be able to make a hill.

...and my settlements aren't generating any new belief.. or if they are it is happening at a much, much slower rate than it used to

October 06, 2013 18:29

OK, I can't tell what's broken, and what's just changed ... in addition to the two problems I noted above, totem is practically useless for corralling lots of people (they only attract a couple of followers at most), in battle maps, followers cannot attack anyone or anything, only champions can.. there are now visible timers on every abode practically, although it's not obvious what they are counting down to, and they all move at different rates (each second on the smaller abodes is about 1/10th of a second real time, but other things are running in real time, and are showing times in the multiple hours range).. overall the game feels much slower, performance wise, and in how long it takes to achieve / do anything.

Also, there doesn't seem to have been any changes to address the constant clicking going on, but the whats new document didn't detail what kinds of changes, just that changes were made.

October 06, 2013 19:12

..the constant timers on everything appears only in the combat maps, i guess. maybe time till it generates another person? i don't know.

... and the shrines of expansion now appear as beams of light, that don't seem to have any effect on the world at all.

Is this thing broken because I didn't restart, or did the mechanics change drastically, and I just can't figure them out?

October 06, 2013 20:29
User photo

You need to dig out the shrines of expansion until the whole shrine is showing, then get a couple of follwers to repair it.

October 07, 2013 07:37
User photo

What I am finding different is the fact that abodes seem to have a circle of influence, in which if there is a new house to build abodes will offer they offer a follower to sprog and go and build
Problem here is that if you release the nearest worker to a set of building plots it will start to work on the 1st one it comes to, but if that building plot is at the furthest point of influence of another building the flag will go down on that abode and it won't produce a builder, so you have to release workers furthest first.

In theory it would be possible to strand yourself on the home island, with a small bridge built to the next island, but no houses close enough to the next building plot on the new island and no faith to build more land to create a large enough bit of land to build on in between. Limited amount of faith availble on your home island and you could have used it up as I nearly did.

Two of the three new shrines of expansion are buried 7 or 8 layers underwater.  I got one of them built (but it expanded the area of influence on the wrong side of the world!), but the other two are completely unreachable. :(

I'd like to take 1.2.1, add all the bug fixes from 1.3, and nuke a lot of the behavior changes.

October 21, 2013 18:46

having played through this what I feel is that the weather is a game mechanic to make you care about belief once the game makes you focus on farming as a means of progressing,as prior to this it has been all about growing population. In 1.2 housing that was damaged by you accidentally terraforming into it would be auto repaired by its inhabitants. Now in 1.3 you a need to clicki on houses with population flags still producing belief so they repair the more badly damaged ones. Failing to do this will result in houses that are occupied but not producing faith. Not a problem as long as you have the means to build city centres. In other words, access to diamonds. Also once you're agricultured out you'll be waiting on large batches of resource cards to unlock the various levelling cards you got through reaching the agriculture quotas.

The implicit message appears to be you should be doing battles with other players.
